Mapping the Journey

Mapping the Journey

This workshop enables participants to create a metaphorical, emotional map of their journey in the land of Israel. Mapping is both an attempt to condense reality into a graphic form, as well as a metaphorical means of translating non-physical states into images. We explore the personal meaning of Israel, using as examples the imaginative non-literal maps created by David Moss. How can the design of a map reflect one’s vision, dreams or values? What is your personal narrative of your journey in this land? Each participant creates an artistic map reflecting their own journey and process. This workshop can also be adapted to other journeys- such as a leadership journey or the participants’ personal Jewish journey.

Kol HaOt imparts Jewish values, texts and history through a creative synthesis of the visual and performing arts.

We believe that harnessing the arts, via our interactive programs, is a necessity, not a luxury, and is an effective model for Jewish education, identity and community.
